If you've been looking for a new hobby, one both challenging and fun, Amateur Radio may be for you! Although an FCC license is required, the members of the Bellevue Amateur Radio Club (BARC) want to help you get started. The course can be a little "intense" since we cover
a lot of material in
just two Saturdays. Instructors will present on the various topics and
answer questions as we go. However, it is
expected that the student will prepare for the exam by also reviewing the license
manual or other study aids. We also encourage students to take
online practice exams to familiarize themselves with the questions and how they
will be presented in the actual exam.
The class size is limited so please make a reservation by contacting the instructor. Note: Participants are encouraged to arrive a few minutes early so we can start promptly.
We just completed a class for the General license in February and are looking at scheduling another one in the Fall. It was 9 AM to 3 PM over four Saturdays, with a testing session on the 5th Saturday. At this time we will likely stay with that format. Keep checking back here for more information or send an email to education@bellevuearc.org. The cost of the course was $25 which included a copy of the ARRL "General Class License Manual" which retails for $24.95.
