November 5, 2005
The Bellevue Amateur Radio Club provided communications support for the 2005 Nebraska Veterans Day Parade. Among the many military, educational, and civic organizations participating there were also several dignitaries, including Governor Dave Heineman, Lieutenant Governor Rick Sheehy, and Congressman Tom Osborn.
It was an 8 AM start at the Bellevue Police Department. There we coffee and donuts. Wayne KE6DZD gave us our assignments and we got the briefing from the police. After a brief photo opp, we were off to our positions. We were on station by 9:15 and the parade started on-time with a KC-135 flyover at 10:00.
By 11:30 the parade was over and we had the streets reopened.
Then it was off to Wendy's for an after-action "meeting". All in all, a good day.
